Best Grade Lapis Lazuli |
This is best quality (A grade) deep blue or purplish blue Afghan Lapis Lazuli. This Lapis has some nice golden Pyrite and very little Calcite. It has fine grain and it is easy to work with. It is best for making high end jewelry and good for hobbyists. This Lapis is best in the world.

Medium Grade Lapis Lazuli |
Medium quality (B grade) Afghan Lapis Lazuli has calcite and golden pyrite in it. The Lapis rocks may have white calcite Patches, mostly on the edges. The color is medium to dark blue. This Lapis is good for commercial grade cabochons, carvings and beads.

Low Grade Lapis Lazuli |
Low quality (C grade) Afghanistan Lapis Lazuli has pyrite and may have big patches of white calcite. The color is light blue to medium blue. This Lapis is good for carving, figurines and cabochon. Very good for learning to cabochon.
