Emeralds range in deep blue green, Green and light green. Emeralds
are mined in Brazil, Columbia, India, Africa and Pakistan. Most Emeralds are oil-treated,
except for the emeralds coming out of technologically backward areas like
Northern Pakistan. The oil used in treatment is transparent and colorless and
is filled and set into the natural fractures/cavities of the Emeralds. This
process makes them look more transparent and nice looking. However, emeralds
must not be washed with detergents because the oil will flow out and a nice
looking emerald may start looking rather ugly.
